2014 The 10th Annual Charity Golf Classic

Thank You For Your Support

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the people who attended, sponsored, donated, or assisted in any way with the 10th Annual Lindsay Rachel Giacomelli Memorial Golf Tournament. We had an outstanding day. We can’t thank you enough for your support and for your recognition of Lindsay.

Thanks to your participation we were sold out again, with a full slate of 144 golfers. Response this year was outstanding with the event sold out on January 16, with 25 tournament sponsors, including our new Tournament Sponsor, 6 corporate Platinum Sponsors and 1 Platinum level private donation.

As a result of the successful turnout we raised approximately $48,398 at the event. Of this total, $10,500 will be donated directly to The Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre courtesy of our Platinum Sponsors Warwick Industries Ltd, Lauren Engineers & Constructors, Timbers Consulting & Hazop Inc., Jet Power & Controls, RN Engineering, Atlas Oil & Gas Process Systems, and our private Platinum Donor.

The remaining approximately $37,898 will go directly into Lindsay’s Fund. The estimated value of Lindsay’s Fund will be $413,898 as of July 15, 2014.

The Lindsay Rachel Giacomelli Memorial Fund, through the Calgary Foundation, is an endowment; all donations to the fund remain there forever. Each year 4% of the fund’s value is designated for a charitable donation. This amount is essentially what the fund earns over the year as an investment.

The total donation this year from Lindsay’s Fund will be $14,884. Of this total, $500 will go to The Light Up Papua New Guinea Project in memory of Captain Nichola Goddard www.nicholagoddard.com/lupng.php, This will help put solar powered LED lighting systems into medical clinics in isolated villages in Papua New Guinea. The balance being $14,384, along with the Platinum Sponsor amount of $10,500 ($24,884 total) will be donated to The Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre, AARC www.aarc.ab.ca. AARC is an accredited not for profit long-term intensive treatment centre for chemically addicted adolescents between the ages of 13 and 21. AARC is often the last hope for adolescents and their families. The families have tried other alternatives and have had no success. By the time they reach the doors of AARC their lives are in ruins and the family is desperate for help. You slowly watch your child destroy their life. We are extremely happy to assisting AARC.

With this year’s donations, Lindsay’s Fund will have donated approximately $80,089 and the Platinum Sponsor donations will have contributed a total donation amount of $39,000! Outstanding!

The 2015 donation will be based on the fund value on March 31, 2015, and can be estimated to be approximately $16,500.

The establishment of this fund provides our family extreme comfort in the knowledge that the fund will provide charitable donations to Calgary area causes forever, all in Lindsay’s name.

The next tee time for this event will be a 9:00 am shotgun start on Friday June 12, 2015. We will have some format changes for next year. I hope you will join us again next year to celebrate and remember Lindsay at the 11th Annual Lindsay Giacomelli Memorial Golf Tournament. Book early!

Sincerely,

Leslie & Gerald Giacomelli
